OTHER TECHNIQUES
Another interesting method to display stereoscopic images is to use the Pulfrich effect. It was found that if an object or an image is continually spinning or if the camera is moving to the left or right, a 3D effect can be achieved by covering one eye with a dark filter and leaving the other eye free. Some portions of an episode of "3rd Rock from the Sun" on NBC were aired using the Pulfrich effect in May of 1997. The result was very effective. Copies of the tape can be ordered at www.3rdrock.com. An example of the Pulfrich effect is shown below. To view this, find a pair of sun glasses or the NBC glasses, and hold them over your right eye (leave your left eye uncovered).
